Built Green Conference Policy Track: Creating Incentives that Work

Shift Zero is leading two sessions at this year’s Built Green Conference geared for policymakers, advocates, and experts from across the state interested in catalyzing zero net carbon building market transformation.

This is a unique opportunity to hear from leaders in jurisdictions where incentives have shifted the market, followed by a work session where audience members come away with ideas for incentives tailored for their communities.

  • Complimentary track registration for the two sessions listed below is available for city/county officials. Email rachel@shiftzero.org for info.
  • All Built Green Conference attendees (register for the full conference here) are welcome at these sessions.
Session A: Creating Incentives That Work | 10:10 AM
During this session, attendees will gain a better understanding of the variety of incentive options and discover what Seattle, King County, Shoreline and Kirkland are doing to create successful shifts in the market. A panel of government representatives will discuss the successes and challenges of their cities’ green building incentives.

Session B: Tailored Incentive Development for Your Jurisdiction | 11:20 AM
This will be a session geared for policymakers and elected officials. Allies, advocates, and partners are welcome to join and contribute to this important conversation!
During this work session, Rose Lathrop and Dan Wildenhaus will give an overview of certification programs, share the Shift Zero Toolkit, and lead a small group work session to help our state’s decision-makers to determine what incentives will work for their community and what barriers exist to adopting them.
