About Shift Zero

Shift Zero is an alliance of over 60 green building, energy efficiency, and climate action organizations working together to catalyze a just transition to zero carbon buildings for all in Washington State. Since its founding in 2018, Shift Zero has been a central convener and hub for thought leadership, mobilizing advocacy from across the state for equitable building decarbonization policies and programs.

Homes and buildings contribute over a quarter of the state’s carbon pollution, largely due to the use of natural gas and other fossil fuels for space and water heating.
